I would really like to write something interesting here, but I have spent the past 3 days reacquainting myself with CAD and beating a Gcode parser into submission. At this point I am at a even greater lack of words then usual. I do however at this point have 4 prototype designs mostly refined in CAD and a workable understanding of GCode. All goes well there will be actual knife steel cut tomorrow.
Instagram Feed:Swapped the leather belts for 3/8inch round polyurethane belting (85 Shore A durometer). Result: cleaner smoother cuts with better feedback to the drive handle. In other words less slipping in the drive system. Some of you might notice that the leather belts were twisted and these are not. The reason for putting a twist in the leather belts is to increase angular contact with the pulley and thus friction and the poly belts don't need that. Alos in this system 2 twisted belts has the same directional result as 2 non twisted belts. #podforge #wip #watchmaking #engraving #guilloche #shoplife #oldtools #horology #jewelryPlaying around with the new machine. Seeing what still needs adjustment and getting used to it. #podforge #wip #watchmaking #engraving #guillocheFinally today....assembly!!!! For all those wondering, it is a straight line ornamental engine by Hall. Most likely made prior to 1920. The leather belts will get replaced with less temperamental polyurethane round belts. #podforge #wip #watchmaking #engraving #guilloche #shoplife #oldtools #horology #horologylife #vitreousenamel
